(Leonardo da Vinci) 1412-1519 ******************************************************************************* The exhibition "Senciente" appears to bring to the public a great issue of the contemporary world and the anxieties and questions of an artist who makes use of painting and drawing as means of expression aimed at raising awareness of these issues.
If I tell you that sentient beings are capable of feeling or perceiving through the senses. Who possess or can receive impressions or sensations. What is the first figurative image that comes to mind before the above definition? Many will say: It's us! We are talking about human beings .... Children, adults, seniors. Right? No, my dear, I have to tell you that you are wrong. Scientifically speaking, all animals provided with a central nervous system are considered sentient beings. And yes, if you do not remember, we humans are also considered animals, but sometimes we do not realize that and, besides being animals, we also ignore the existence of other animals inhabiting the same "house" that we inhabit and that We think are inferior to us. So I wonder ... why? Why are we so superior? Do you feel pain when you get hit? A cat, a monkey, a pig, a dog, a rhino, a cow, a bird will feel the same pain. You feel depressed, sad, distressed if put in a situation of total confinement without contact with the heat of the sun, without feeling the wind on your face, without being able to have the freedom to run, walk, play in the grass or in a lake and feel the touch of fresh water? The same cats, monkeys, pigs, dogs, rhinos, cows and birds in nature will also feel the same way. What I mean is that the house where we, homo sapiens, inhabit should be shared with more equality and compassion with the other species as well and that we, in one way or another, are all interconnected. Poor Men who think they have the power to transform or destroy everything around them and to be free of any kind of negative effect. Life is purely and simply formed of cause and effect. In my point of view, a healthy home is a place where all its residents live in community respecting each other's limit. An egalitarian Earth should be healthy for the conviviality of all Terran animals, for we are not self-sufficient, therefore, what negatively affects nature will automatically affect us as well. It may take months, years, decades, but you may believe that one day the return of that negative action will hit us. And this action/reaction effect has already begun some time ago. I am happy to see that part of humanity has already broadened its idea of collective consciousness, but there is still much that we have to evolve and the journey will not be easy. Because man is also an egocentric animal. Man is the only animal in nature that tortures other animals. Within the natural food chain, a lion needs to kill to eat. He, then, hunts an animal that is below him in the food chain and simply kills it quickly and soon feeds. In a fair and less painful way. He needs to feed and this is a fair fact. What about men? Men torture "their edible slaves" under the justification that the flesh gets better, more palatable if they make use of such cruel methodologies. Man is the only mammal who drinks milk during adulthood and for this he also makes use of torture so that his "edible slaves" produce milk that is not for him. No wonder one of the major problems that humans face in today's world is lactose intolerance. The fashion, food and entertainment industry is extremely cruel. What is the use of evolving so technologically, if we are losing every day the notion of ethics, compassion, respect? Sentient beings without feelings? Somewhat paradox, no? There are already differentiated methods that do not require the use of animal tests. But many industries continue to enslave defenseless animals, taking them out of their natural habitat, leaving them trapped and exposed to extremely torturous tests and then discarded as trash. To me, children and animals are the same creature. I see them under the same optics. And many animals have the same insight and intelligence as children of ages 4 - 5. Then I ask myself: why does man recriminate mistreatment of children, but does he close his eyes to the same mistreatment directed at other animals? There are many reports, texts and information in the media reporting the most cruel, most unimaginable acts possible.
Can you understand the pain and suffering that these animals go through? They are also like us: sentient! Now imagine the same atrocities being deferred against a child. What sets them apart? Because, in our house Earth, homo sapiens play God's Supreme? "Quoting the words of Charles Darwin (1809 to 1882):" There is no fundamental difference between the human being and the higher animals in terms of mental faculties. The difference between the mind of a human being and a higher animal is certainly in degree and not in kind. They are sentient, have feelings, pain, fear and want to preserve their lives as much as we humans. " For these and many other reasons that in my paintings I always express the image of animals and children. They are genuine, pure, helpless, and, above all, they feel with all their strength the wickedness of the world around them. But only one of these two species will be privileged and spared throughout their lives. I dare to say that more and more, part of humanity is ceasing to be sentient. I will never accept this. And I will never stop using my paintings, pencils and brushes to, in a loving way, bring this reflection to the people who have access to my work. If we are part of the group of sentient beings, then let us be as such. "Life carries invaluable value. A mostra “Senciente” surge para trazer ao público uma grande problemática do mundo contemporâneo e as angústias e os questionamentos de da artista que faz uso da pintura e do desenho como meios de expressão voltados para a conscientização dessas problemáticas.
Se eu lhe disser que senciente são seres capazes de sentir ou perceber através dos sentidos. Que possuem ou conseguem receber impressões ou sensações. Qual a primeira imagem figurativa que vem à sua mente diante da definição acima citada?
Muitos talvez dirão: Somos nós! Estamos falando dos seres humanos…. crianças, adultos, idosos. Certo? Não, meu caro, terei de lhe dizer que você está equivocado. Cientificamente falando todos os animais providos de um sistema nervoso central são considerados seres sencientes. E sim, caso você não se lembre, nós humanos, também somos considerados animais, porém às vezes não nos damos conta de que, além de sermos animais, também ignoramos a existência de outros animais habitantes da mesma “casa” da qual habitamos e que julgamos serem inferiores a nós.
Então eu me pergunto… porquê? Porquê somos tão superiores assim? Você sente dor ao receber um golpe? Um gato, um macaco, um porco, um cachorro, um rinoceronte, uma vaca, um pássaro sentirão a mesma dor. Você se sente depressivo, triste, angustiado se colocado numa situação de total confinamento sem contato com o calor do sol, sem sentir o vento no rosto, sem poder ter a liberdade de correr, caminhar, se jogar na grama ou num lago e sentir o frescor da água?
Os mesmos gatos, macacos, porcos, cachorros, rinocerontes, vacas e pássaros existentes na natureza também se sentirão da mesma maneira. O que quero dizer é que a casa onde nós, homo sapiens habitamos, deveria ser compartilhada com mais igualdade e compaixão com as demais espécies também e que, de uma forma ou outra, estamos todos interligados.
Pobre do Homem que pensa que tem o poder de transformar ou destruir tudo ao seu redor e estar livre de qualquer tipo de efeito negativo. A vida é pura e simplesmente formada de causa e efeito.
Ao meu ver uma casa saudável é um lugar onde todos seus moradores vivem em comunhão respeitando cada qual o limite alheio.Uma Terra igualitária deveria ser saudável para o convívio de todos os animais terráqueos, pois não somos auto-suficientes (nós, homo sapiens, pensamos que somos, mas sinto lhes dizer: não somos).
O que afeta negativamente a natureza, automaticamente também nos afetará. Pode levar meses, anos, décadas, mas você pode acreditar que um dia o retorno dessa ação negativa nos atingirá. E esse efeito de ação-reação já deu seu início há algum tempo. Me sinto feliz em ver que parte da humanidade já ampliou sua idéia de consciência coletiva, porém ainda há muito o que evoluirmos e a caminhada não será fácil. Porque o homem também é um animal egocêntrico.
O Homem, é o único animal na natureza que tortura os outros animais.
Dentro da cadeia alimentar natural, um leão precisa matar para comer. Ele então caça um animal que esteja abaixo dele na cadeia alimentar e, simplesmente o mata rapidamente e logo se alimenta. De uma forma justa e menos dolorosa. Ele precisa se alimentar e isto é um fato justo.
O Homem?
O Homem, tortura “seus escravos comestíveis”, sob a justificativa de que a carne fica melhor, mais saborosa se fizer uso de tais metodologias cruéis. O Homem, é o único mamífero que bebe leite durante a vida adulta e, para isso, também faz uso da tortura para que seus “escravos comestíveis” produzam o leite que não é para ele, mas como “ser superior”, ele simplesmente o faz e assim se impõe como ser superior.
Não à toa, um dos grandes problemas que parte dos humanos enfrentam no mundo atual, é a intolerância à lactose. A indústria da moda, alimentícia e entretenimento são extremamente cruéis. De que adianta evoluirmos tanto tecnologicamente, se estamos a cada dia perdendo a noção de ética, compaixão, respeito? Seres sencientes sem sentimentos?
Um tanto quanto paradoxal, não?
Já existem atualmente métodos diferenciados que dispensam o uso da realização de testes em animais. Porém muitas indústrias continuam a escravizar animais indefesos, tirando-os de seu habitat natural, para deixá-los presos e expostos a testes extremamente torturantes para depois serem descartados como lixo. Para mim, crianças e animais são a mesma criatura. Eu os vejo sob a mesma ótica. E muitos animais tem a mesma percepção e inteligência de crianças de 4, 5 anos.
Então eu me questiono: porque o homem recrimina os maus tratos a crianças, mas fecha os olhos para os mesmos maus tratos direcionados a outros animais? Há muitas reportagens, textos e informações na mídia relatando os atos mais cruéis, dos mais inimagináveis possíveis.
Orangutangos-fêmeas que foram usadas como escravas sexuais, cachorros eletrocutados e espancados até a morte para depois virarem comida. Animais amarrados por uma corda à automóveis e sendo arrastados em velocidade máxima, até a morte. Coelhos que tem sua pele extraída ainda vivos e depois deixados de lado, agonizando em carne viva, com fortes dores, até a morrerem… Eu poderia citar muitos outros atos grotescos, cruéis e abomináveis praticados por humanos.
Vocês conseguem entender a dor e o sofrimento que estes animais podem sentir? Eles também são como nós: sencientes!
Agora imaginem as mesmas atrocidades sendo deferidas contra uma criança. O que os diferem?
Porque na nossa casa Terra, os homo sapiens brincam de Deus Supremo?

A diferença entre a mente de um ser humano e de um animal superior é certamente em grau e não em tipo”. São sencientes, tem sentimentos, dor, medo e querem preservar suas vidas tanto quanto nós humanos.”
Por esta e tantas outras razões que em minhas pinturas sempre expressarei a imagem da figura de animais e crianças. Eles são genuínos, puros, indefesos e, acima de tudo, sentem, sentem com todas as forças a maldade do mundo que os cercam. Só que apenas uma destas duas espécies será privilegiada e poupada ao longo de suas vidas.
Eu ouso dizer que cada vez mais, parte da humanidade está deixando de ser senciente. Pois alguém que causa a dor e o sofrimento alheio deve ser totalmente desprovido de sentimentos.
Eu jamais aceitarei isto. E jamais deixarei de usar minhas tintas, lápis e pincéis para, de uma forma amorosa trazer esta reflexão às pessoas que têm acesso ao meu trabalho.
Se fazemos parte do grupo dos seres sencientes, então hajamos como tal.“A vida carrega um valor inestimável. O fato dela habitar um corpo animal e não humano não a torna descartável”.
